ISLA Medic Acute Citrus & Honey 20 lozenges is a medical device intended for the intensive moisturising, protection and soothing of irritated mucous membranes in the mouth, throat and pharynx. The hydrogel complex with hyaluronic acid and a special Icelandic moss extract forms a double protective film over dry and irritated mucous membranes.
The lozenges are recommended for more pronounced discomfort associated with colds and throat irritation, including sore throat, scratching, dry irritating cough, hoarseness, dry mucous membranes and painful or difficult swallowing. They have a pleasant citrus and honey flavour and do not cause numbness in the mouth or throat.

How does the hydrogel complex work?
Carbomer and xanthan gum form the hydrogel complex. Xanthan gum binds water, while carbomer swells and forms a stable protective layer that adheres to irritated mucous membranes in the mouth and throat.
Hyaluronic acid, provided as sodium hyaluronate, forms an additional moist film on the surface of the mucous membrane. This contributes to more intensive and longer-lasting moisturisation of a dry and sensitive throat.
Icelandic moss contains a high proportion of natural mucilage. As the lozenge dissolves slowly, its special extract spreads across the mouth, throat and pharynx like a soothing balm, stimulates saliva production and supports the natural regeneration of irritated mucous membranes.
The combination of these ingredients coats, moisturises and protects the mucous membrane against further drying and contact with irritating influences.
When are ISLA Medic Acute Citrus & Honey lozenges used?
- for pronounced soreness and scratching in the throat,
- for dry and irritating cough,

- after prolonged speaking, lecturing or singing,

Ingredients
The lozenges contain:
- aqueous Icelandic moss extract (Cetraria islandica), extraction ratio 0.4–0.8:1,
- carbomer,
- xanthan gum,
- sodium hyaluronate.
Other ingredients: gum arabic, sorbitol, maltitol, anhydrous citric acid, acesulfame K, lemon oil, orange oil, flavouring, colouring plant extract from apple, safflower and lemon, medium-chain triglycerides and purified water.
One lozenge contains 0.11 g of sorbitol and 0.92 g of maltitol, providing a total of 1.03 g of sugar substitutes, equivalent to approximately 0.09 bread units.
Sweetener information
The product contains no sucrose but does contain sorbitol, maltitol and acesulfame K.
- People with intolerance to certain sugars or sugar alcohols should consult a doctor before use.
- People with diabetes should take the sugar substitutes and approximately 0.09 bread units per lozenge into account.
- Excessive consumption of products containing sorbitol and maltitol may cause a laxative effect or stomach discomfort.
Directions for use
Adults and children over six years of age: slowly dissolve one lozenge in the mouth as required, up to a maximum of six lozenges daily.
Do not chew or swallow the lozenge whole. Allow it to dissolve slowly and completely so that the hydrogel complex spreads evenly across the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat.
Children should use the product only when they are able to suck a lozenge independently and safely, without a risk of choking.
How long may the lozenges be used?
ISLA Medic Acute Citrus & Honey lozenges may be used for a prolonged period when required or intermittently.
Consult a doctor or pharmacist if there is no improvement after three days, if symptoms worsen, or if fever, muscle or joint pain or other pronounced symptoms develop.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
According to the manufacturer’s instructions, there are no known findings that prevent use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Prior consultation is recommended in cases of chronic illness or regular medication.

- Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any ingredient.
- Not intended for children under six years of age.
- The child must be able to suck the lozenge independently and safely.

Allow the lozenge to dissolve slowly and completely. Chewing or swallowing it quickly reduces the contact time between the hydrogel complex and the mucous membrane, limiting the practical benefit of the protective film.
ISLA Medic Acute Citrus & Honey may be a suitable choice when soreness or difficult swallowing is pronounced in addition to dryness and hoarseness. The lozenge does not cause numbness and therefore does not mask throat sensation in the same way as a local anaesthetic.
Do not whisper when hoarse, as whispering may place additional strain on the vocal cords. Speak quietly and calmly, take regular breaks and drink enough water.
Seek medical advice if you develop a high temperature, difficulty breathing, an inability to swallow fluids, pronounced throat swelling, pus on the tonsils, severe one-sided pain, a rash or rapidly worsening symptoms.
