ISLA MINT 60 lozenges is a medical device containing aqueous Icelandic moss extract and peppermint essential oil, intended to protect and moisturise irritated mucous membranes in the mouth, throat and pharynx. As the lozenge dissolves slowly in the mouth, the natural mucilage from Icelandic moss forms a protective film that helps relieve dry, irritating cough, hoarseness, throat irritation and dryness.
The lozenges have a pleasant, refreshing mint flavour. They contain no sugar and are sweetened with sorbitol and aspartame, making them a practical choice for people looking for sucrose-free throat lozenges.

How do ISLA MINT lozenges work?
Icelandic moss (Cetraria islandica) contains natural mucilage that is released while the lozenge dissolves slowly in the mouth. It spreads evenly across the mucous membrane and forms a soothing protective layer.
The protective film helps retain moisture and reduces direct contact with dry air, dust, cigarette smoke and other irritating influences. This helps soothe throat irritation, hoarseness and the urge to cough.
Peppermint essential oil gives the lozenges a pleasant, mild and refreshing flavour, while the product’s main action comes from the protective layer formed by Icelandic moss mucilage.
When are ISLA MINT lozenges used?
- for dry and irritating cough,
- for throat irritation and dryness,
- for temporary hoarseness,
- after prolonged speaking, lecturing or singing,
- when the vocal cords are under increased strain,
- when spending time in air-conditioned or heated rooms,
- for dryness of the mouth and pharynx,
- when breathing through the mouth because nasal breathing is difficult,
- when exposed to dust, smog and cigarette smoke.

Pharmacist’s advice
Allow the lozenge to dissolve as slowly as possible in the mouth. Chewing or swallowing it quickly reduces the contact time between Icelandic moss and the mucous membrane, limiting the practical benefit of the protective film.
For a dry and irritated throat, increase your water intake, ventilate the room regularly and use a humidifier when necessary. Avoid cigarette smoke, very cold or hot drinks and unnecessary vocal strain.
Do not whisper when hoarse. Whispering may place additional strain on the vocal cords. Speak softly and calmly and take breaks during prolonged speaking.
Consult a doctor if you experience a high temperature, difficulty breathing or swallowing, severe pain, pronounced throat swelling, pus on the tonsils, blood in sputum or symptoms lasting longer than ten days.
