PharmaS Floriotic® Boulardii, 10 capsules, is a probiotic food supplement combining 5 billion live lyophilised Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii I-3799 yeast cells with a total of 1 billion live lactic acid bacteria from three carefully selected strains in each capsule.

The product is intended for adults and children over six years of age who require support for intestinal microbiota balance, particularly during antibiotic treatment, antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, acute or traveller’s diarrhoea and changes associated with diet or travel.

How do the Floriotic Boulardii cultures work?

Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii I-3799 is a beneficial yeast culture that differs from conventional probiotic bacteria. As it is a yeast, antibiotics do not affect it in the same manner as bacterial cultures. This makes products containing S. boulardii a practical option for support during antibiotic treatment.

Lactobacillus acidophilus LA3, Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BLC1 and Lactobacillus casei BGP93 provide a combination of live lyophilised lactic acid bacteria intended to complement and support intestinal microbiota balance.

The combination of probiotic yeast and multiple bacterial strains provides broader microbiota support than a product containing only a single culture. However, the effect of a probiotic product depends on the specific strains, reason for use, general health and adequate fluid replacement.

Who is the product intended for?

Adults and children over six years of age requiring probiotic support during disturbed intestinal microbiota, antibiotic treatment, travel or short-term diarrhoea. Fluid intake and signs of dehydration require particular attention in children, older adults and people with chronic conditions.

Directions for use and important warnings

Adults and children over six years: one capsule daily.
Take with half a glass of liquid, independently of meals.
According to the product instructions, the capsule may be taken at the same time as an antibiotic.
For a child unable to swallow it, the capsule may be opened and its contents mixed with food or a cold or lukewarm drink.
Do not mix the capsule contents with very hot food or drinks.
Do not take with alcoholic drinks.

Important information and warnings

Diarrhoea requires appropriate fluid and electrolyte replacement; a probiotic does not replace rehydration.
The product does not replace an antibiotic or other prescribed treatment.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any ingredient.
Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.
Antifungal medicines may reduce or eliminate the activity of the live probiotic yeast; discuss the combination with a doctor or pharmacist.
Severely ill or significantly immunocompromised people and those with a central venous catheter should only use products containing live yeast under medical supervision.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should discuss use with a doctor or pharmacist.
Blood in the stool, high fever, severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, pronounced weakness or signs of dehydration require medical assessment.
A child refusing fluids, urinating infrequently, developing a dry mouth or becoming unusually sleepy requires paediatric advice.
