What is in Fructus Fitness tea and how long can it be used safely?

Fructus Fitness is a herbal tea blend from the Classic line of the Serbian producer Fructus, declared as a food supplement. The pack contains 20 filter bags of 2 g (40 g).

The blend consists of seven plants. The largest shares are restharrow root (28.8%), senna leaf (16.2%), rose hip (15%) and hibiscus flower (15%). Senna leaf is known for its laxative effect, which determines how the tea should be used.

Unlike Fitness Plus from the same producer, this blend contains no green tea leaf and no alder buckthorn bark, but it has a higher proportion of senna leaf. It is not a weight-loss product: it does not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, and the producer limits its use to a maximum of 1–2 weeks.

Ingredients according to the producer's declaration:

Senna leaf contains anthranoid glycosides, which stimulate bowel movement and have a laxative effect. This is why the tea is intended for short-term use only and why the producer lists a number of contraindications.

How to use

Producer's instructions:

• Pour 200 ml of boiling water over one filter bag and cover the cup.
• Remove the bag after 8–10 minutes.
• Drink one cup of the freshly prepared infusion in the evening, before bedtime.
• Do not exceed the recommended daily amount and do not use for longer than 1–2 weeks.

Who is it for?

The tea is intended for adults who want to use it for a short time alongside a balanced diet and physical activity. It is not recommended for children under 12, pregnant or breastfeeding women.

• Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to plant ingredients, kidney disease, intestinal obstruction or narrowing, intestinal atony, appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease, abdominal pain of unknown cause or severe dehydration with loss of fluids and electrolytes.
• If you take cardiac glycosides, antiarrhythmics, medicines that prolong the QT interval, diuretics or corticosteroids, consult a doctor before use because of possible interactions.
• Stop use if gastrointestinal complaints occur and, if necessary, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
• Do not use for longer than 1–2 weeks – long-term use of laxative plants can disturb normal bowel function and the balance of fluids and electrolytes.
• Store in a dry place, out of the reach of children.
