Pharmacist’s advice
Preventing dehydration is the priority when an infant has diarrhoea. Babybiane Imedia does not replace an appropriately prepared oral rehydration solution. Offer the solution frequently in small amounts according to paediatric advice. Do not mix the sachet with hot milk, food or drinks because high temperatures may damage the microbiotic strain. When the child is receiving an antibiotic, confirm the timing of administration with a paediatrician or pharmacist.
Seek medical advice promptly for frequent watery stools, repeated vomiting, blood in the stool, high fever, marked drowsiness, dry mouth, absence of tears, a sunken fontanelle or substantially fewer wet nappies. Ljubica Barbulović, Master of Pharmacy |
Directions and important information
Directions: dissolve the contents of one sachet in a bottle or glass containing approximately 150–200 ml of a cold or lukewarm drink, or mix it with food suitable for the child’s age. It may also be mixed with a correctly prepared oral rehydration solution when advised by a healthcare professional.
Timing: administer once daily, preferably before a meal.
Recommended course: the current manufacturer’s directions state seven days. Some local packs may state 5–7 days for acute enteritis or 7–14 days for antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Follow the specific pack declaration and paediatric advice.
Age: formulated for infants from birth and young children up to four years of age.
Pack size: seven sachets of 1.5 g.
Net weight: 10.5 g.
Amount per sachet: 10 × 109 CFU of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG LA801.
Medical supervision: Babybiane Imedia must be used under medical supervision. It is not suitable as the sole source of nutrition and is not intended for parenteral use.
Acute diarrhoea: contact a paediatrician when an infant or young child develops several watery stools within a short period, particularly when accompanied by vomiting or fever.
Feeding: breastfeeding is generally continued unless the paediatrician advises otherwise. Do not independently introduce restrictive diets, sugary juices or homemade solutions with an unverified salt-to-sugar ratio.
Antibiotic treatment: the product does not replace an antibiotic when antibiotic treatment is medically indicated. Never discontinue or alter prescribed treatment without medical advice.
Hypersensitivity: do not give the product to a child who is hypersensitive to any ingredient.
Storage: store in the original packaging in a cool, dry place protected from moisture and heat.
