SALVIT Orsovit is a food for special medical purposes and must be used under medical supervision. It is not suitable as the sole source of nutrition and is not intended for parenteral use.

Special caution is required in patients with heart or kidney failure, severe hypoproteinaemia, hyperchloraemia, very high blood pressure or another condition requiring controlled fluid and electrolyte intake.

People with diabetes should note that the product contains glucose and sugars. Use during pregnancy should be discussed with a doctor, particularly when high blood pressure or pregnancy complications are present.

Oral rehydration does not directly treat the cause of diarrhoea or vomiting. It replaces lost fluid and electrolytes and does not replace prescribed treatment.

Seek urgent medical advice if the patient cannot retain fluids, urinates very little, is unusually drowsy or confused, has blood in the stool, a high fever, severe abdominal pain or worsening signs of dehydration.

Always dissolve one sachet in the exact specified water volume. Too much water makes the solution overly diluted, while too little water increases the concentration of salt and sugar.

When vomiting is present, do not give a large amount at once. Frequent teaspoons or small sips are usually better tolerated.

The bacterial cultures are tyndallised, meaning that they are heat-inactivated. The product should therefore not be described as a conventional live probiotic.

Infants, young children, older adults and chronically ill patients may become dehydrated quickly. Worsening symptoms require medical assessment without delay.
