What makes the Microlife BP A6 BT a good choice for home blood pressure monitoring with a smartphone?
The Microlife BP A6 BT is an automatic upper arm blood pressure monitor that combines three things many home users look for: reliable measurement with the MAM triple-reading technology, detection of a possible atrial fibrillation (AFIBsens) and wireless transfer of results to a smartphone via Bluetooth.
Atrial fibrillation is a common heart rhythm disorder that often has no symptoms and increases the risk of stroke. The BP A6 BT checks the pulse during the measurement and warns you with the AFIB symbol if it detects an irregular rhythm that may suggest atrial fibrillation – a reason to consult a doctor, who can confirm or exclude the diagnosis with an ECG.
Results can be sent via Bluetooth to the free Microlife Connected Health+ app or transferred by USB cable to the free BP Analyzer+ PC software, so you can follow trends over weeks and months and show your doctor a clear overview instead of handwritten notes. The manufacturer states that the device has been clinically validated according to the BIHS protocol with the result A/A.
Key benefits:
- AFIBsens detection of an irregular pulse that may suggest atrial fibrillation.
- MAM mode – three readings in a row with one click, as recommended by doctors.
- Bluetooth transfer to the Microlife Connected Health+ app and USB connection for BP Analyzer+ PC software.
- Memory for 99 readings with a memory average function.
- Traffic light indicator, cuff check and arm movement indicators.
- Gentle+ inflation control and a keylock switch.

How to use
Measure in a quiet place after at least 5 minutes of rest, seated with your back supported, feet flat on the floor and legs uncrossed. Avoid food, coffee, smoking and exercise immediately before the measurement. Put the cuff on the bare upper arm, about 2 cm above the elbow, with the artery mark over the inside of the arm, and support the arm so that the cuff is at heart level.
Select the MAM/AFIB mode for three averaged readings with AFIB detection, start the measurement and stay still and silent until the result appears. Pair the device with the Connected Health+ app once, following the instructions in the app and the user manual, and then synchronise your readings regularly.
Who is it for?
The BP A6 BT is suitable for adults who measure their blood pressure regularly – especially people with high blood pressure, older people and those with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation – and who want to keep their readings in a smartphone app or on a computer and share them with their doctor. The supplied M–L cuff fits upper arms from 22 to 42 cm.
Important notes
- The AFIB indicator is not a diagnosis; only an ECG evaluated by a doctor can confirm atrial fibrillation. In people with a pacemaker or defibrillator AFIB detection may be unreliable.
- Do not start, stop or change medication on the basis of home readings alone – discuss them with your doctor.
- If the arm circumference is outside 22–42 cm, a different cuff size is needed for correct values.
- Keep the device dry, protect it from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight, and remove the batteries if it will not be used for a long time.
Pharmacist's advice:
The value of a home monitor lies in regular measurements under the same conditions. For one week before a check-up, measure in the morning and in the evening in the MAM mode, synchronise the results to the app and show your doctor the overview – this gives a much better picture than a single measurement in the surgery, where values are often higher because of nervousness.
If the AFIB symbol appears, repeat the measurement after a few minutes of rest. If it appears again, make an appointment for an ECG. Seek urgent medical help if very high values are accompanied by chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden weakness or speech problems.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
1. Do I need the app to use the Microlife BP A6 BT?
No. The device works on its own and stores 99 readings in its memory. The Connected Health+ app and the BP Analyzer+ PC software are optional and free, and they make it easier to follow trends and share results with your doctor.
2. How does the AFIB detection work?
In the MAM/AFIB mode the device analyses the pulse rhythm during the three measurements. If it finds an irregular rhythm that may suggest atrial fibrillation, it shows the AFIB symbol. This is a warning sign, not a diagnosis – a doctor confirms atrial fibrillation with an ECG.
3. Which arm size does the cuff fit?
The supplied rigid M–L cuff fits upper arms with a circumference of 22–42 cm, which covers most adults. For thinner or stronger arms a cuff of a different size is needed.
4. Can I use the device with a mains adapter?
Yes. The monitor runs on four 1.5 V AAA alkaline batteries or on an optional mains adapter (DC 6 V, 600 mA), which saves batteries if you measure frequently at home.
