The Microlife BP A1 Easy is a compact automatic upper arm blood pressure monitor operated with a single button. How to use

Avoid physical activity, eating or smoking just before measuring. Sit in a chair with back support, rest for 5 minutes, keep your feet flat on the floor and do not cross your legs.

Always measure on the same arm. Place the cuff 1–2 cm above the elbow with the artery mark over the artery on the inside of the arm, keep the cuff at heart level and press the button. Stay still and quiet and breathe normally. Take at least two readings, more than 5 minutes apart, and note the average. The device switches off automatically after about one minute.

The BP A1 Easy is intended for adults and adolescents from 12 years of age who want a simple, reliable monitor for regular measurement at home – especially older people and those who do not want to deal with many buttons and functions. Important notes

Readings are not a diagnosis; do not change your medication on the basis of the readings and discuss them with your doctor.
Do not use on a limb with impaired circulation, on an injured arm or on the arm on the side of a mastectomy or lymph node clearance. Do not use in a moving vehicle.
The pulse display is not suitable for checking the rate of a pacemaker.
Keep the device away from children – small parts can be swallowed and cables pose a strangulation risk.

Because the device stores only the last reading, keep a simple blood pressure diary – note the date, time and both values after each measurement. Measure in the morning and evening at the same times for a week before your doctor's appointment; that gives a much better picture than a single measurement at the surgery. If the irregular heartbeat symbol appears repeatedly, tell your doctor.
