L-carnitine is a naturally occurring compound involved in the transport of long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria, where they can participate in energy metabolism. This does not mean that an L-carnitine supplement independently causes weight loss – reducing body fat still primarily depends on appropriate energy intake, diet quality and regular physical activity.
