Pharmacist’s advice
Hi-Neb converts a suitable liquid into an aerosol, but the device itself does not determine which treatment is required. Use medication, dosage and dilution only according to professional advice and the instructions supplied with the specific medicine.
For a young child, the mask should fit close to the face to reduce aerosol loss without being uncomfortably tight. When the child’s age and cooperation allow correct use, a mouthpiece may reduce aerosol loss into the surrounding air.
A larger amount, longer treatment or more frequent use does not automatically provide a better result. Nebulized bronchodilators, corticosteroids, antibiotics and hypertonic saline should not be given to children without clear medical instructions.
After nebulizing a corticosteroid medication, rinse the mouth with water. When a mask has been used, wash the facial skin. Allow all components to dry completely before reassembly and storage.
