Is Schauma 7 Herbs shampoo a good choice for hair that gets greasy quickly?

Schauma 7 Herbs (known in Germany as Schauma 7 Kräuter) is a shampoo by Henkel (Schwarzkopf) intended for normal to quickly greasy hair. According to the manufacturer, it gives the hair a light freshness, and washing leaves a feeling of clean, cared-for and naturally full hair.

The formula contains extracts of seven herbs: chamomile, sage, lemon balm, nettle, horsetail, rosemary and hops. In addition to the basic cleansing agents, it contains an ingredient that makes combing easier (a cationic guar derivative), so hair does not feel “straw-like” after washing, even though the shampoo contains no silicones.

The manufacturer states that the formula is silicone-free, vegan and dermatologically tested. The large 400 ml bottle is designed for regular – even frequent – hair washing.

Who is it for?

The shampoo is intended for adults with normal hair or hair that quickly gets greasy at the roots and is therefore washed often. For very dry, damaged or coloured hair it is better to choose a shampoo designed for those needs, and for dandruff or an itchy scalp – a dedicated anti-dandruff shampoo.

Important notes

Avoid contact with the eyes; in case of contact, rinse with water.
Contains the fragrance ingredients linalool and hexyl cinnamal.
Stop use if itching or redness of the scalp occurs.

With hair that gets greasy quickly, the most important thing is to massage the shampoo well into the scalp, because that is where sebum is produced; the lengths are cleaned sufficiently by the lather as it is rinsed out. Wash your hair with lukewarm rather than hot water and do not scrub the scalp with your nails – vigorous rubbing and hot water can further encourage greasiness and irritation.

If your roots are greasy but the ends dry, apply conditioner only to the lengths and ends, never to the roots. If greasiness is accompanied by yellowish flakes, itching or redness of the scalp, this may be seborrhoeic dermatitis – in that case ask a pharmacist about a suitable shampoo.
