OstroVit ZMAdvanced – 160 g is a comprehensive powdered dietary supplement intended for physically active adults. The formula combines three forms of magnesium, three forms of zinc, vitamin B6 in the active P-5-P form, D-aspartic acid, KSM-66® ashwagandha root extract and 1 mg of melatonin per serving.
One serving of only 3.5 g provides 300 mg of magnesium, equivalent to 80% of the reference intake, and 15 mg of zinc, equivalent to 150% of the reference intake. The formula also provides 6 mg vitamin B6, 300 mg D-aspartic acid, 100 mg standardized KSM-66® ashwagandha extract and 1 mg melatonin.
Magnesium contributes to normal muscle and nervous-system function, normal energy-yielding metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Zinc contributes to normal immune-system function, protection of cells from oxidative stress and maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood, while vitamin B6 contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism and regulation of hormonal activity.

Triple Magnesium – three forms of magnesium
OstroVit ZMAdvanced combines magnesium carbonate, magnesium citrate and magnesium lactate. A total of 2400 mg of magnesium complex provides 300 mg of elemental magnesium.
Magnesium contributes to normal muscle and nervous-system function, electrolyte balance, normal protein synthesis, normal psychological function and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
Triple Zinc – three forms of zinc
The formula combines zinc gluconate, zinc picolinate and zinc citrate. A total of 75 mg of the zinc complex provides 15 mg of elemental zinc.
Zinc contributes to normal immune-system function, normal DNA and protein synthesis, normal fertility and reproduction, maintenance of normal skin, hair, nails and bones and maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood.
The latter claim refers to maintaining normal blood testosterone levels and does not mean that the supplement raises testosterone above normal physiological levels.
Vitamin B6 as P-5-P
One serving contains 6 mg of vitamin B6 as pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (P-5-P), equivalent to 429% of the reference intake.
Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal nervous-system function, normal protein and glycogen metabolism, normal immune-system function, reduction of tiredness and fatigue and regulation of hormonal activity.
KSM-66® Ashwagandha
The formula provides 100 mg of KSM-66® ashwagandha root extract, standardized to 5% withanolides, providing 5 mg of withanolides per serving.
Ashwagandha is a botanical ingredient commonly found in formulas intended for adults exposed to physical or mental demands. Standardization is important when evaluating botanical extracts, and such ingredients should not be considered a replacement for treatment of sleep, anxiety, hormonal or other medical conditions.
D-aspartic acid – DAA
One serving contains 300 mg of D-aspartic acid. DAA is an amino acid that also occurs naturally in the human body.
Although D-aspartic acid is frequently used in sports formulas, this product should not be presented as a supplement guaranteed to increase testosterone or muscle mass.
Melatonin – 1 mg per serving
One serving provides 1 mg of melatonin. Melatonin contributes to the reduction of time taken to fall asleep when 1 mg is taken close to bedtime.

Suggested use

Pharmacist's advice
ZMAdvanced is not simply a magnesium-and-zinc product. One serving simultaneously provides 300 mg magnesium, 15 mg zinc, 6 mg B6, ashwagandha and 1 mg melatonin, so check whether the same ingredients are already present in other sports or evening supplements.
Because it contains melatonin, I would practically associate it with an evening routine, particularly when the person will not need to drive afterwards. Melatonin is not an ingredient I would recommend taking during the day simply because the product belongs to sports supplementation.
The zinc in this formula contributes to maintaining normal blood testosterone levels, but this does not mean that it will raise testosterone in a healthy person above the normal range. Likewise, D-aspartic acid does not make the product a hormonal treatment.
If you already use a separate magnesium, zinc, melatonin or ashwagandha supplement, check total amounts before combining them. With chronic medication or thyroid disease, professional advice is appropriate.
