Why is GC MI Paste Plus Tutti Frutti recommended with fixed braces?
With fixed orthodontic braces, plaque easily collects around the brackets and wires, and white spots – a sign of mineral loss – can then appear on the enamel. GC MI Paste Plus Tutti Frutti is a crème from GC that the manufacturer lists precisely for use during and after orthodontic treatment, especially with white spots.
The formula combines RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) – calcium and phosphate bound to casein phosphopeptide from milk – with 900 ppm fluoride. GC states that RECALDENT™ reduces enamel demineralisation and additionally remineralises it, and that MI Paste Plus balances the delivery of fluoride to the enamel and its uptake into the enamel.
The fruity tutti frutti (mixed fruit) taste is one of five flavours of this crème and is popular with teenagers, who are also the most frequent wearers of braces. The crème is applied after brushing and is not rinsed off.
Key benefits:
- GC lists it for use during and after orthodontic treatment.
- Also intended for teeth with white spots on the enamel.
- CPP-ACP and 900 ppm fluoride in a leave-on crème.
- Mixed-fruit flavour, a favourite with teenagers.
- 40 g (35 ml) tube for home use.

How to use
After thoroughly brushing the teeth and the areas around the brackets, apply a pea-sized amount per arch to all teeth with a finger or a cotton swab, including the surfaces around the brackets. Leave the crème on for at least 3 minutes, spread the rest with your tongue, spit out the excess and do not rinse.
Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after application. Let the orthodontist or dentist decide the schedule (in the evening, or morning and evening); in children under 12 the crème is not left on overnight.
Who is it for?
For teenagers and adults wearing fixed or removable orthodontic appliances, and for the period after the braces are removed when white spots are visible on the enamel. Children under 6 should not use this crème.
Important notes
- It is contraindicated with a milk protein allergy: RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) is derived from casein.
- It is also not recommended for people sensitive to benzoate preservatives (hydroxybenzoates).
- If you notice swelling of the face, lips or tongue after use, stop using it and contact a doctor.
- After use, replace the cap and wipe away any crème and moisture around the tube opening.
Pharmacist's advice:
With braces, most of the work is done by thorough cleaning: use an orthodontic toothbrush and interdental brushes for the space under the wire, and only then apply the crème to the cleaned teeth. The crème cannot make up for plaque left around the brackets.
Show white spots that remain after removing braces to your dentist – they will judge how long to use the crème and whether additional in-office treatment is needed. If you know you are allergic to milk, choose a casein-free product.
