When to seek medical help immediately?

  • swelling of the face, lips or throat, severe rash (allergic reaction);
  • a cough lasting longer than 7 days or getting worse.

Pharmacist's advice

Do not eat or drink anything immediately after taking the syrup – according to the leaflet, food and drink speed up removal of the medicine from the mouth and throat lining. During the day drink plenty of tea and warm drinks, as the leaflet recommends, and always measure a child's dose with the supplied spoon.

As the syrup contains sugar, rinse your mouth with water after the evening dose, and people with diabetes should ask a pharmacist about an alternative. If the cough lasts more than a week, or fever or breathing difficulty develops, a medical examination is needed.
