Serrapeptase – Proteolytic Enzymes in Capsules and Tablets

Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme (an enzyme that breaks down proteins) obtained by bacterial fermentation. This category contains food supplements with serrapeptase – Serapinn, RecoForte, Hysera, Flamin, Serrax, Serrap MD Forte, Aboserap, Serazyn, Serapept 250 and Dr. Viton – and combinations with other enzymes (Seratrix, Chymolit Forte, Bomelinn with bromelain). How to compare products

The amount of serrapeptase is expressed in activity units – SPU or IU. The higher the number, the higher the activity per capsule, so products of different strength are compared by total daily dose, not by number of capsules.

Serrapeptase is taken on an empty stomach – about 30 minutes before or 2 hours after a meal – because the enzyme is sensitive to stomach acid. That is why most products come in gastro-resistant capsules, which should not be opened or chewed.
