Do not combine with other medicines containing paracetamol.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Possible side effects

If any of the following very rare side effects occurs (in up to 1 in 10,000 patients), stop the medicine and contact a doctor immediately:

  • liver damage

Frequency not known: metabolic acidosis in severely ill patients. Suspected side effects can be reported to a doctor, pharmacist or ALIMS.

Overdose, missed dose and stopping treatment

  • Overdose: seek medical help immediately, preferably in hospital, even if there are no clear early symptoms, because of the risk of permanent liver damage.
  • Missed dose: never give a double dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Stopping treatment: use the medicine as directed; not for longer than 3 days without medical advice.

When to seek medical help immediately?

  • the child has been given more syrup than recommended or another medicine containing paracetamol at the same time
  • rash, blistering or peeling skin, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, difficulty breathing
  • bruising or bleeding without a clear reason
  • rapid, deep breathing with drowsiness, nausea and vomiting
  • fever or pain not settling after 3 days, or the condition getting worse
  • a baby under 3 months with fever, without prior medical advice

Pharmacist's advice

Before each dose check when the child last had the medicine and write down the time and amount – this makes it easier to keep 4 hours between doses and no more than 4 doses a day. Measure the dose only with the spoon from the pack, not a household spoon.

Check the composition of all other cold and fever medicines your child receives: many combination products also contain paracetamol. Use an opened bottle within 6 months.
