Zoladex, a 3.6 mg implant in a pre-filled syringe, contains goserelin as the active substance. Goserelin belongs to a group of medicines known as gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues (LHRH analogues).
Use of the drug Zoladex in men:
In men, it is used to treat prostate cancer. The drug reduces the production of the male sex hormone testosterone in the body.
Use of Zoladex in women:
In women it is used:
in the treatment of advanced breast cancer in premenopause and perimenopause suitable for hormonal treatment,
as an alternative to chemotherapy, as part of standard treatment in premenopausal and perimenopausal women with estrogen-receptor (ER) positive early breast cancer,
with endometriosis (a disease in which the cells that normally line the inner wall of the uterus can also be found in other organs, most often in the immediate vicinity of the uterus),
in the treatment of benign growths in the uterus called fibroids,
in thinning of the uterine wall before surgery on the uterus,
during the treatment of infertility, together with other drugs. It helps control the release of eggs from the ovaries.
Composition:
The active substance is goserelin. Each Zoladex, 3.6 mg implant in a pre-filled syringe contains 3.6 mg of goserelin (as goserelin acetate). The excipient is a lactide/glycolide 50/50 copolymer.
Method of use:
The drug Zoladex, 3.6 mg is administered as an injection, which is injected under the skin on your abdomen every 4 weeks (every 28 days). Only a doctor or nurse can give the injection.
It is very important that you receive the injection at the specified time and for as long as your doctor recommends, even when you feel perfectly well. Do not stop treatment until your doctor decides it is time to stop treatment
