How is Afrodita Marmelada dry oil used safely for a faster tan?

The Afrodita Sun Care Marmelada dry oil is a tanning accelerator in a 150 ml spray bottle from the Slovenian company Kozmetika Afrodita (Rogaška Slatina). It belongs to the well-known Marmelada range and is labelled "100% Bronze Skin". According to the manufacturer, the dry oil with golden-brown glitter helps the skin achieve a faster and more intense tan.

The formula is based on an oil complex of carrot, olive and walnut, which, according to the manufacturer, richly cares for, nourishes and moisturises the skin. Beta-carotene and carrot root extract give the oil its warm colour, and vitamin E (tocopherol) is added as an antioxidant. A Serbian retailer also describes the oil as suitable for the solarium.

It is important to know that the current version of Marmelada dry oil does not provide any UV protection. It is not a sunscreen, but a care and tanning product that the manufacturer recommends using alone only in the early morning and late afternoon – at all other times together with a sun protection product.

Who is it for?

Marmelada dry oil is intended for adults with skin that tans easily and who want a faster, more intense tan and a shimmering bronze effect. According to the manufacturer, it is not suitable for children's skin, sensitive skin or very fair skin. People with fair or sensitive skin should choose a sunscreen with high protection instead.

Marmelada is a tanning accelerator, not sun protection. In the middle of the day, always apply a sunscreen with a suitable SPF first, wait until it has been absorbed and only then spray on the oil – and reapply the sunscreen after swimming and towelling. Between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. it is best to stay in the shade.

Before the first use, test the oil on a small area of skin, because it contains perfume. Fair-skinned people, children and anyone who burns easily should not use this product – a tan is not worth a sunburn. After sunbathing, care for your skin with a soothing after-sun product.

1. Does Marmelada dry oil protect against the sun?

No. The current version provides no UV protection. Older packs labelled SPF 6 have also been sold, so always check the label on your bottle – and in any case use a sunscreen during the middle of the day.

2. How do I combine Marmelada with a sunscreen?

First apply your sunscreen and let it absorb, then spray the Marmelada dry oil on top. Reapply the sunscreen regularly, especially after swimming.

3. Can I use it in the solarium?

A Serbian retailer describes the dry oil as suitable for the solarium. Follow the instructions of the solarium operator and limit the exposure time.

4. Who should not use this oil?

According to the manufacturer, it is not suitable for children, sensitive skin or very fair skin.
