What should you know before buying Philips Avent Ultra Air SCF087/11 pacifiers for babies aged 6 to 18 months?
Philips Avent Ultra Air SCF087/11 are two pacifiers from the Ultra Air range, sized for babies aged 6 to 18 months. When choosing a pacifier, the most important thing is that the size matches the child's age, followed by the nipple shape, the material and how much the pacifier covers the skin of the face.
Ultra Air pacifiers have a lightweight shield with extra-large air holes, which according to the manufacturer let the skin breathe and help keep it soft and dry. The nipple is symmetrical and orthodontic, adapted to the natural shape of the palate, teeth and gums, and is made of soft silicone with a silky texture for a comfortable feel in the mouth.
Both pacifiers are BPA-free and have a ring-shaped handle that makes them easy to grip. The code SCF087/11 refers to this design variant of the Ultra Air pacifiers for 6–18 months; the technical features are the same as in other variants of the range.
Key benefits:
- Size adapted to babies aged 6 to 18 months.
- Lightweight shield with extra-large holes for airflow.
- Symmetrical orthodontic nipple made of soft silicone.
- BPA-free, with a ring-shaped handle.
- Easy washing and sterilisation by common methods.

How to use and care
Before the first and every subsequent use:
- Before first use, place the pacifiers in boiling water for 5 minutes, let them cool for 5 minutes and remove any water left in the nipple by holding it upside down.
- Before each use, wash them with warm water and mild soap; do not use abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive chemicals.
- The pacifiers are suitable for all commonly used forms of sterilisation. Clean your hands and surfaces thoroughly before touching sterilised pacifiers.
- For safety and hygiene reasons, replace the pacifier after 4 weeks of use.
Who is it for?
Babies aged 6 to 18 months. When your child turns 18 months, move on to the next pacifier size; for babies younger than 6 months there are Ultra Air pacifiers for 0–6 months.
Important notes
- Inspect the pacifier carefully before each use and pull it in all directions; throw it away at the first sign of damage or weakness.
- Never attach ribbons or cords to a pacifier – there is a risk of strangulation. Only use a pacifier holder that complies with regulations.
- Never dip the nipple in sweet substances or medication – this can contribute to tooth decay.
- Do not leave the pacifier in direct sunlight, near a heat source or in disinfectant for longer than recommended.
- Always use the product under adult supervision.
Pharmacist's advice:
When moving from a smaller to a larger pacifier, avoid changing both the model and the habit at the same time – if your baby has been using Ultra Air 0–6 months, the same range in the larger size is usually accepted more easily because the nipple shape is similar.
For walks and nursery, carry the pacifier in a clean, dry container rather than loose in a bag. If the pacifier falls on the floor, wash it before giving it back to your baby – do not "clean" it in your own mouth, as this passes bacteria from an adult's mouth to the child.
