What does Palisept contain and how are the capsules taken?

Palisept is a herbal food supplement from the Institute for Medicinal Plants Research "Dr Josif Pančić" in Pančevo, Serbia. Each capsule contains 1.6–2.0 mg of a mixture of carvacrol and thymol obtained from the essential oil of a species of oregano, Origanum heracleoticum L. (Lamiaceae), known in Serbian as "vranilova trava".

Carvacrol and thymol are the main aromatic components of oregano and thyme essential oils. In Palisept their content is declared as a defined range per capsule, so that the daily intake can be calculated precisely: two capsules provide 3.2–4.0 mg and six capsules 9.6–12.0 mg of the mixture.

One pack contains 30 capsules. The product contains lactose and is intended for adults – it is not meant for pregnant women, breastfeeding women or small children.

Key benefits:

  • Carvacrol and thymol from the essential oil of Origanum heracleoticum.
  • Defined content per capsule: 1.6–2.0 mg of the carvacrol–thymol mixture.
  • Developed by the Serbian Institute for Medicinal Plants Research "Dr Josif Pančić".

Who is it for?

Palisept is intended for adults who want to supplement their diet with carvacrol and thymol from oregano essential oil. According to the manufacturer, it is not intended for pregnant women, breastfeeding women or small children, nor for people hypersensitive to any ingredient. Because it contains lactose, people with lactose intolerance should take this into account.

Important notes

  • Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
  • Not intended for pregnant women, breastfeeding women and small children.
  • Not for people hypersensitive to the ingredients; contains lactose.
  • If you take medicines or have a health condition, consult your doctor or pharmacist before use; stop using the product if undesirable reactions occur.
  • Store in the original packaging, protected from light and moisture, at temperatures up to 25 °C, out of the reach of children. Food supplements cannot replace a varied and balanced diet.

Pharmacist's advice:

Take the capsules with water after a meal: preparations with essential oils are usually better tolerated by the stomach this way. Follow the schedule on the pack precisely – the higher amount in the first days is followed by a lower maintenance amount, and the total daily dose should not be exceeded.

If you have symptoms such as burning when urinating, fever or pain, do not rely on a supplement: see a doctor, because such complaints may need diagnosis and treatment. If you are lactose intolerant or take any medicines regularly, check with your pharmacist whether Palisept is suitable for you.
