Old Spice Whitewater is a men's deodorant spray in a 150 ml can from the Procter & Gamble range. Unlike the warm, spicy Original scent, Whitewater is a fresh, 'aquatic' scent that retailers describe with notes of citrus, sandalwood and amber – a choice for those who prefer a lighter, sportier character.

According to the description on the German market, the formula labelled '3x Active Defence' provides long-lasting fragrance and protection against body odour with daily use. The product contains 0% aluminium salts, so it is a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant – it does not reduce sweating but prevents and masks unpleasant odour.

According to the directions, the spray is applied to the underarms and chest, so it also works as a light fragrance spray for the upper body. The manufacturer also states that it leaves no visible marks on black or white clothing.

How to use

Shake the can well. Hold the spray about 15 cm away and apply it under the arms and onto the chest, on clean, dry skin. Leave it to dry for a few seconds before getting dressed.

Who is it for?

Whitewater is for men who want everyday freshness with a lighter, 'marine' scent, for example after a shower or a workout. Because it contains no aluminium salts, it is not intended to reduce sweating – that requires an antiperspirant. People allergic to fragrance ingredients should check the list of fragrance allergens on the pack.

Important notes

Do not spray into the eyes; if the spray gets into the eyes, rinse with plenty of water.
Do not use on irritated or injured skin.
Extremely flammable pressurised aerosol: keep away from heat, sparks and open flames, protect from sunlight and temperatures above 50 °C, do not pierce or burn even when empty.
The product is harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects – dispose of the empty can in line with local recycling rules.

Pharmacist's advice:

The 15 cm distance is not a formality: when the spray is held too close, more alcohol and fragrance build up in one spot, the skin gets chilled and irritated more easily, and the spray takes longer to dry. Short bursts from a distance are enough.

If you also use Old Spice Whitewater aftershave lotion, apply the deodorant only to the underarms and chest, not to the face and neck – that way the scent will not be overpowering and freshly shaved facial skin will not get extra alcohol.
