Novynette is a medicine used as a contraceptive and contains two active substances: 150 micrograms of desogestrel and 20 micrograms of ethinylestradiol. It is available in the form of film-coated tablets, packed with 21 tablets in a blister. This drug is used to prevent pregnancy and works by inhibiting ovulation and changing the consistency of cervical mucus, making it impermeable to sperm.
The use of Novynette requires precise adherence to the instructions. The tablets should be taken every day at the same time, starting from the first day of menstruation, for 21 days. After that, there is a break of 7 days during which vaginal bleeding usually occurs. After a break, a new package begins. If taking pills is not followed in the correct schedule, the effectiveness of contraception may decrease, so it is recommended to use additional methods of protection.
Novynette is not recommended for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain medical conditions such as:
Blood clotting disorders
Heart attack or stroke
Venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism
Severe hypertension
Severe disorders of lipid metabolism
Hormone-dependent tumors, such as breast or endometrial cancer
Severe liver diseases
Insufficiently explained vaginal bleeding
