Nebilet 5 mg contains the active substance nebivolol. It is a selective beta-blocker that slows an excessively rapid heart rate, affects the force with which the heart pumps and helps dilate blood vessels.
It is used to treat high blood pressure in adults and as an addition to standard treatment for stable mild to moderate chronic heart failure in patients aged 70 years and older.

Nebilet – what is it used for and how should it be taken?
Nebilet is used for essential hypertension in adults and for stable mild to moderate chronic heart failure as an addition to standard treatment in patients aged 70 years and older.
Hypertension: the usual dose is one 5 mg tablet once daily. Older patients and patients with kidney impairment may be started on 2.5 mg once daily.
Chronic heart failure: treatment is introduced gradually under medical supervision, generally using 1.25 mg, 2.5 mg, 5 mg and then up to a maximum of 10 mg once daily according to tolerability.
- Take the medicine at approximately the same time every day.
- It may be taken before, during or after food.
- Swallow with a small amount of water.
- The cross-scored tablet can be divided into halves or quarters.
- Do not change the dose independently.
Do not stop Nebilet suddenly without medical advice. Abrupt withdrawal may temporarily worsen heart failure and may aggravate cardiac symptoms in people with ischaemic heart disease.
Nebilet is not intended for occasional use only when an individual blood-pressure reading is elevated.
Do not take Nebilet in cases including marked bradycardia, severe hypotension, certain conduction disorders, acute or recently decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, asthma or a history of bronchospasm, severe peripheral circulatory disease, untreated phaeochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis or liver impairment.
Special caution is required in diabetes, thyroid disorders, psoriasis, chronic respiratory disease, impaired peripheral circulation, kidney disease and before anaesthesia or surgery.
Important interactions may occur with verapamil, diltiazem, antiarrhythmic medicines, centrally acting blood-pressure medicines, other beta-blockers, digoxin, certain antidepressants, antipsychotics, sedatives and anaesthetic medicines.
Possible side effects include headache, dizziness, tiredness, tingling, nausea, diarrhoea or constipation, shortness of breath, swelling, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, visual disturbance, erectile dysfunction, depression, nightmares, rash, bronchospasm and fainting.

- loss of consciousness;
- a very slow or irregular pulse;
- severe hypotension with weakness or fainting;
- sudden worsening of breathlessness or leg swelling;
- new or severe chest pain.
Composition: each tablet contains 5 mg nebivolol and 141.75 mg lactose monohydrate.
Take Nebilet every day at approximately the same time, even when blood-pressure readings are normal. Measure blood pressure and pulse after at least five minutes of rest.
Report repeated dizziness, fainting, a markedly slow pulse, worsening breathlessness or leg swelling. Do not independently skip or reduce doses.
