Espumisan L 40 mg/ml oral drops, emulsion is a medicinal product containing the active ingredient simethicone. It is intended for the symptomatic relief of discomfort caused by the accumulation of gas in the stomach and intestines. It is used for bloating, abdominal pressure and fullness, as well as infant colic.
Simethicone acts physically by breaking down gas bubbles in the contents of the stomach and intestines. The released gas can then be eliminated more easily through natural processes. The active ingredient is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
Espumisan L is a medicinal product. Read the enclosed patient information leaflet before use and follow the recommended dosage. Consult a doctor if the symptoms recur, persist for a prolonged period or become worse.
Espumisan L drops – use, composition and important information
The medicine is used:
- for bloating and the accumulation of gas in the stomach and intestines;
- for feelings of fullness, pressure and abdominal discomfort;
- for infant colic during the first months of life;
- as an aid when preparing for ultrasound, X-ray and endoscopic examinations of the abdominal area;
- as a defoaming agent in cases of detergent poisoning, with immediate medical assistance being mandatory.
Dosage for gas-related symptoms:

Shake the bottle well before use. Hold the bottle vertically with the dropper facing downwards to dispense the correct number of drops. The medicine may be taken during or after meals and, when necessary, before bedtime.
Composition: 1 ml of oral drops, equivalent to 25 drops, contains 40 mg of simethicone.
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to simethicone or any of the other ingredients. According to the official patient information leaflet, no interactions with other medicines are known.
For babies, first check the feeding technique, feeding position and whether the baby burps properly after feeding. Do not combine several different anti-colic products without professional advice. A paediatric assessment is required if the baby refuses food, vomits, develops a fever, has blood in the stool, has a very hard or swollen abdomen or cries unusually long.
