CITIZEN CTA301 Digital Thermometer is a compact contact medical thermometer with a rigid probe for oral, rectal and axillary body-temperature measurement. It is simple to operate and suitable for everyday temperature monitoring at home.

The thermometer measures from 32.0 °C to 42.9 °C with 0.1 °C display resolution. Within the clinically relevant range of 35.5–42.0 °C, CITIZEN specifies an accuracy of ±0.1 °C.

CTA301 recalls the last reading, gives an audible signal and provides a distinctive fever alert when the measured temperature is 37.8 °C or higher. Automatic shut-off helps preserve battery life.

Technical specifications: approximately 19 × 126.7 × 11.2 mm; weight approximately 9.7 g including battery; powered by one 1.5 V LR41 or SR41 battery.

Oral measurement: place the probe beneath the tongue and keep the mouth closed. Approximate measuring time according to CITIZEN is about 1 minute.

Axillary measurement: dry the armpit first, keep the probe in direct contact with the skin and hold the arm firmly against the body. CITIZEN specifies an approximate measuring time of 2–3 minutes.

Rectal measurement: use a suitable water-soluble lubricant and insert the probe carefully according to the instructions. Approximate measuring time is about 1 minute.

Cleaning: clean the probe before and after use with a soft cloth and diluted isopropyl alcohol or cold soapy water. Do not boil, steam sterilise or leave the thermometer immersed for prolonged periods.

Pharmacist's advice: when monitoring changes in temperature, use the same measurement site whenever possible because oral, axillary and rectal values are not directly interchangeable. Record the temperature, time and measurement site if monitoring an illness. Seek medical advice for very young infants, unusually high or persistent fever, difficulty breathing, marked drowsiness, dehydration, seizures or deterioration in the person's general condition.
