Precautions and warnings
- Do not combine with other medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid – risk of overdose.
- Regular use of painkillers, especially combinations of several painkillers, can permanently damage kidney function.
- If headaches persist despite high doses of painkillers, do not increase the dose – consult a doctor.
- Caution in G6PD deficiency, a history of ulcer, bleeding or gastritis, asthma, kidney or liver impairment and heavy menstrual bleeding.
- Acetylsalicylic acid increases the tendency to bleed even at low doses and for several days after intake – tell your doctor or dentist before any surgical or dental procedure.
- The medicine alters uric acid levels in the blood, which is relevant in gout.
- In children with a viral illness (flu, chickenpox) there is a risk of Reye's syndrome.
Interactions with other medicines, alcohol and food
The medicine must not be taken with methotrexate above 15 mg per week, or with oral anticoagulants in people who have or have had an ulcer. Always consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you take:
- oral anticoagulants, heparins, thrombolytics, clopidogrel or ticlopidine
- other NSAIDs (medicines for pain and inflammation)
- glucocorticoids at high doses
- medicines for gout (benzbromarone, probenecid)
- diuretics, ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II antagonists (blood pressure medicines)
- methotrexate up to 15 mg per week, pemetrexed, anagrelide, deferasirox
- SSRI antidepressants (citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, sertraline)
- antacids, gastrointestinal medicines and medicinal charcoal
- deferoxamine (because of vitamin C – possible effect on heart function)
The medicine may affect some laboratory tests (glucose, uric acid, creatinine, faecal occult blood test). Do not take on an empty stomach.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
In the first five months of pregnancy the medicine should only be used on a doctor's advice. From the beginning of the sixth month of pregnancy (after week 24) it must not be taken, as it can seriously harm the mother and the baby.
The medicine passes into breast milk and, as a precaution, is not recommended during breastfeeding. Acetylsalicylic acid may temporarily reduce fertility in women.
Driving and using machines
According to the leaflet, the medicine has no effect on the ability to drive or use machines.
Possible side effects

- Reye's syndrome in children with a viral infection
Suspected side effects can be reported to your doctor, pharmacist or the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency of Serbia (ALIMS).

When to seek medical help immediately?
- black or bloody stools, vomiting blood or bleeding in the mouth
- swelling of the face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing, an asthma attack or a severe skin reaction
- severe headache, ringing in the ears and hearing loss with dizziness (possible overdose)
- in a child or adolescent who has taken the medicine: vomiting, drowsiness, confusion or unusual behaviour
Pharmacist's advice
Before taking it, check whether other cold and flu medicines you are already using contain acetylsalicylic acid – taking them together can lead to overdose. Dissolve the tablet completely in a glass of water and do not take it on an empty stomach.
Because of the high sodium content (466.4 mg per tablet), people with high blood pressure or on a low-salt diet should ask a pharmacist for advice. For children and adolescents under 16, ask a doctor or pharmacist about a suitable medicine.
