Zypsila belongs to a group of medicines called antipsychotics. Zypsila is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia and help you keep your symptoms under control. In addition, Zypsila can be used to control symptoms of mania in adults with bipolar disorder.
Children and adolescents aged 10–17 years: Zypsila is used to control the symptoms of mania in children and adolescents with bipolar disorder. If you respond to Zypsila, your symptoms will improve. If you continue to take this medicine, there is less chance of symptoms coming back. And when you feel better, keep taking Zypsila until your doctor tells you to stop.
You must not use the medicine if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ziprasidone or any other ingredient of Zypsila. Allergic reactions can appear in the form of rashes, itching, swelling of the face, swelling of the lips or in the form of shortness of breath. If this ever happens to you, tell your doctor.
Method of use:
Usual doses are between 40 mg and 80 mg, taken twice a day with food; one capsule in the morning and one capsule in the evening. Your doctor may lower your dose if you need to take Zypsila for a longer period of time.
Recommendations for taking Zypsila: Swallow the capsule whole. The capsule must be taken with food. It is best to take the capsules at the same time each day. Remember to take your capsules even if you feel better
For the treatment of mania symptoms in children and adolescents with bipolar disorder, a single dose of 20 mg on the first day, taken with food, is recommended. After that, the drug Zypsila should be taken divided into two doses a day, with food. The dose depends on your body weight. The doctor will advise you on the dose of Zypsila that suits you in milligrams (mg) per kilogram (kg) of body weight. Do not change the dose without consulting your doctor.
