WAYA Biotic Drops 10ml are a food supplement containing the microencapsulated probiotic culture Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG ATCC 53103, intended for newborns, infants and children up to six years of age.

The recommended seven-drop serving provides at least 1.4 billion viable cells of the precisely identified probiotic strain. The culture is suspended in corn oil, has a neutral taste and smell and may be administered directly from a clean spoon.

WAYA Biotic Drops may be considered as additional nutritional support for gut-microbiota balance, including during dietary changes, digestive discomfort or antibiotic treatment. They are not a medicine and do not replace paediatric assessment, oral rehydration or prescribed treatment.

Why does the exact probiotic strain matter?

The properties of one probiotic strain cannot automatically be attributed to another strain from the same species. WAYA Biotic contains the specifically identified LGG strain, ATCC 53103. When comparing probiotic products, check the complete strain designation, viable-cell count in the recommended serving, intended age group and storage requirements.

Microencapsulation is a technological process designed to protect the bacterial culture during storage and passage through the digestive tract. It does not guarantee an identical clinical response in every child, and a higher bacterial count is not automatically a better choice.

Age Recommended daily serving Important information
Newborns, infants and children under 2 years 7 drops once daily Provides at least 1.4 billion CFU of LGG.
Children aged 2–6 years 10 drops once daily The exact CFU count for ten drops is not separately stated in the public label.

Composition of the recommended serving

Active ingredient Amount in 7 drops Form
Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, ATCC 53103 At least 1.4 × 109 CFU Microencapsulated live bacterial culture.

Complete ingredient list: corn oil, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG ATCC 53103.

Directions for use

  1. Shake the bottle thoroughly before every use.
  2. Natural sediment and cloudiness after shaking are expected.
  3. Measure the serving according to the child’s age.
  4. Administer the drops from a clean spoon.
  5. Do not add them to very hot food or drinks.
  6. Do not allow the dropper to touch the mouth, tongue or an unclean surface.
  7. The manufacturer recommends use for at least two weeks.
  8. During antibiotic treatment, leave at least two hours before or after the antibiotic dose.
  9. Do not exceed the recommended daily serving.

Use with antibiotics

WAYA Biotic contains a live bacterial culture. Taking it at the same time as an antibiotic may reduce the number of viable bacteria. Leave a minimum interval of two hours before or after the antibiotic.

The supplement does not replace the antibiotic, determine the length of treatment or justify stopping prescribed medication.

Important information and warnings

  • food supplements do not replace breastfeeding, a varied diet or a healthy lifestyle;
  • the product is not a medicine and is not intended to diagnose, prevent or treat disease;
  • do not exceed the recommended daily serving;
  • do not use in case of hypersensitivity to corn oil or another ingredient;
  • use in premature infants, critically ill children, children with a central venous catheter or severely weakened immunity requires a paediatrician’s approval;
  • the probiotic does not replace oral rehydration solution during diarrhoea or vomiting;
  • do not add the drops to hot milk, tea, food or another very hot liquid;
  • do not use after the expiry date;
  • use within one month after opening;
  • keep out of reach of children.

Realistic expectations

WAYA Biotic may form part of a routine supporting gut-microbiota balance, but it should not be guaranteed to eliminate colic, stop diarrhoea, prevent infection or strengthen immunity in every child.

Crying and irritability in a newborn are not always caused by colic. Possible causes include hunger, reflux, feeding technique, cow’s-milk-protein allergy, infection or another condition requiring assessment.

During diarrhoea, fluid and electrolyte replacement is the priority. A probiotic is only additional, strain-specific support.

Pharmacist advice

Shake the bottle thoroughly before each serving because the bacterial culture is suspended in oil and may settle. Inadequate shaking may result in uneven distribution between doses.

Give the drops from a clean spoon. Avoid placing the dropper directly in the child’s mouth, because contact with saliva may contaminate the bottle.

When an antibiotic is taken several times daily, choose a convenient time that allows a minimum two-hour interval. There is no need to wake the child during the night solely to administer the probiotic.

During acute diarrhoea, continue breastfeeding and age-appropriate food unless the paediatrician advises otherwise. Replace lost fluid with a correctly prepared oral rehydration solution rather than juice, tea or plain water alone.

Seek urgent paediatric advice for blood in the stool, repeated vomiting, inability to drink, marked sleepiness or irritability, sunken eyes, dry mouth or substantially fewer wet nappies. A baby under three months with a fever requires prompt medical assessment.

Persistent or recurring colic, bloating, constipation or diarrhoea should not be managed only by repeatedly changing probiotic products. Feeding, diet, growth and other possible causes require assessment.
