Tantum Verde 3 mg lozenges are an oromucosal medicine containing 3 mg of benzydamine hydrochloride per lozenge, equivalent to 2.68 mg of benzydamine. Benzydamine acts locally to relieve inflammation and pain in the mouth and throat.
Tantum Verde lozenges are not intended for children under 6 years of age. Children aged 6–11 years may use the medicine only under adult supervision. Consult a doctor or dentist if symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3 days.
Tantum Verde 3 mg lozenges – uses, dosage and precautions
What is Tantum Verde used for?
The medicine is used for the symptomatic treatment of painful inflammation and swelling of the mouth and throat, including:
- gingivitis;
- stomatitis;
- glossitis;
- tonsillitis;
- pharyngitis;
- laryngitis.
Tantum Verde may relieve pain, burning, swelling and difficulty swallowing. It acts locally and does not treat the underlying cause of an infection. It is not a substitute for an antibiotic when antibiotic treatment is required.
How should Tantum Verde lozenges be taken?

Keep the lozenge in the mouth until it has completely dissolved. Do not chew it or swallow it whole.
Avoid eating or drinking immediately after use, as food and drink may remove the medicine from the site of action and reduce its local effectiveness.
Treatment must not continue for longer than 7 days. Consult a doctor or dentist if symptoms worsen or do not improve within 3 days.
When must the medicine not be used?
Do not use Tantum Verde if you are allergic to benzydamine or any of the other ingredients.
The medicine is not intended for children under 6 years of age.
When is additional caution required?
Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you:
- have phenylketonuria;
- have or previously had bronchial asthma;
- are hypersensitive to salicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines;
- have hereditary fructose intolerance or intolerance to certain sugars;
- have persistent ulcers or lesions in the mouth or throat;
- develop fever, severe difficulty swallowing or other concerning symptoms.
Benzydamine may cause bronchospasm in patients with current or previous bronchial asthma.
Other medicines and Tantum Verde
Interaction studies with Tantum Verde lozenges have not been performed in humans. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines, supplements and other products you are taking or planning to take.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Tantum Verde lozenges should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Ask a doctor or pharmacist for advice if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning a pregnancy.
Possible side effects
- Uncommon: increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight.
- Rare: burning sensation in the mouth and dry mouth.
- Very rare: sudden swelling of the mouth or throat and difficulty breathing caused by laryngospasm.
- Frequency not known: local numbness of the oral mucosa, hypersensitivity reactions and severe allergic reactions.

- sudden swelling of the face, lips, tongue, mouth or throat;
- chest tightness or chest pain;
- fainting or severe dizziness;
- intense itching, blistering or other signs of a serious allergic reaction.
Important information about the ingredients
- Each lozenge contains 3.5 mg of aspartame, a source of phenylalanine that may be harmful to people with phenylketonuria.
- The medicine contains isomalt and must not be used by patients with hereditary fructose intolerance.
- The mint and lemon flavourings contain substances that may cause allergic reactions.
- Butylated hydroxyanisole in the lemon flavour may cause local skin reactions or irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.

Storage
Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 25°C in the original packaging to protect the medicine from moisture. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the pack.

Delivery outside the territory of the Republic of Serbia, ie export of goods, is done exclusively through the service of DHL and PostExport Post of Serbia.

For the territory of the Republic of Serbia:
For goods ordered up to 5.000,00 RSD, delivery charge is 260.00 RSD (VAT included). For goods over 5.000,00 RSD, shipping is free of charge.
For international delivery:
For the export of goods abroad through the PostExport service of Post of Serbia, the shipping price is for:
- Zone I (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia) - 1,280.00 RSD
- Zone II (Other European countries) - 1,790.00 RSD
- Zone III (Asia, Africa, America, Australia and other countries) - 2,650.00 RSD
Delivery time is 15 days or more (depending on the country of delivery)
For export of goods abroad through DHL service, the shipping price is 2,700.00 RSD. Delivery time is 1-5 business days (depending on the country of delivery)
Shipping cost is with tax. The price includes the delivery of the parcel to the buyer's address with the associated tax and customs at the seller's expense. A possible additional cost may be a customs charge against the buyer, depending on the country to which the package is being shipped.
