Purpose:
SOLGAR BETA GLUCAN IMMUNO COMPLEX helps to maintain the function of the immune system during periods in which the body may be susceptible to the development of diseases, such as winter months or periods of stress. Beta glucan - immune complex contains ingredients that, according to research, promote the normal function of the immune system. Beta 1,3 glucans are long-chain polysaccharides derived from the cell membrane of natural yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) that activate macrophages - the first line of the body's immune defense in the fight against viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites. Macrophages have the ability to recognize and eliminate foreign or unnecessary cells for the body, and beta 1,3 glucans, by activating macrophages, contribute to a better and faster immune response. Vitamins C and D and the minerals selenium, copper and zinc contribute to the normal function of the immune system. Ester-C® (calcium ascorbate) is a patented form of vitamin C that is considered non-acidic and has better bioavailability than ascorbic acid.
Selenium is a mineral that is found in trace amounts in the body and is used in various biological reactions in the body. It is involved in antioxidant protection, thyroid function, male fertility and the immune system.
Zinc is, along with iron, one of the most common minerals in the body. It is used in various metabolic and biological processes in the body, including the immune system, cell replication and protection against free radicals. Research has shown that zinc is important for the normal development and function of innate immune cells (e.g. neutrophils and natural killer cells).
