When is it used?

The preparation is intended for use on a clearly identified corn or common wart on intact skin. It must not be used on moles, skin tags, pigmented or uncertain lesions, genital warts, the face or mucous membranes.

How to use

1. Wash and thoroughly dry the lesion and surrounding skin.
2. If necessary, protect healthy skin around the lesion with a thin layer of petroleum jelly.
3. In the evening, apply a small amount with the brush directly to the corn or common wart.
4. Allow several minutes for the preparation to dry and form a whitish film.
5. Leave the film in place until the next application.
6. Repeat according to the directions printed on the original packaging.

Important precautions

• for external and local use only;
• do not apply to healthy, inflamed, infected, reddened, cracked or injured skin;
• do not use on the face, eyelids, lips, genital area or mucous membranes;
• do not apply to moles, birthmarks, pigmented lesions or warts with hair growing from them;
• do not use for genital warts;
• avoid contact with the eyes and rinse immediately with plenty of water if contact occurs;
• people with diabetes, poor circulation, neuropathy or reduced sensation in the feet should not use it without professional advice;
• seek professional advice before use in children, pregnancy or breastfeeding;
• stop use if severe pain, burning, bleeding, swelling or marked damage to surrounding skin occurs;
• collodion is flammable – keep away from flames, heat and sparks;
• keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Pharmacist’s advice

The greatest risk with this type of product is imprecise application. Salicylic acid can damage healthy skin, so the lesion must be clearly visible and the brush must not pass beyond its edges.

Corns develop because of repeated pressure or friction. Even after the thickened skin is removed, the problem may return unless tight footwear, pressure points or abnormal loading of the foot are corrected.

Do not attempt chemical removal if you are unsure whether a lesion is a wart, corn, mole or another skin condition. Lesions that bleed, grow rapidly, change colour, become painful or do not heal require dermatological assessment.

People with diabetes or poor circulation have an increased risk of wounds and infection and should seek professional foot-care advice instead of self-treating with acids.
