PROSTAMOL UNO TABLETS

Prostamol uno 320 mg is a traditional herbal medicine supplied as soft capsules. It contains a soft extract of saw palmetto fruit – Serenoa repens and is intended for adult men to relieve lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia, after a doctor has excluded other serious conditions.

The use of this traditional herbal medicine is based exclusively on long-standing experience. Prostamol uno may relieve urinary symptoms, but it does not reduce the size of the enlarged prostate and does not replace urological examinations or regular medical check-ups.

Prostamol uno – what is it used for and how should it be taken?

What is Prostamol uno used for?

Benign prostate enlargement may put pressure on the urethra and cause symptoms such as:

• a frequent need to urinate, particularly at night;
• a weak or interrupted urinary stream;
• difficulty starting urination;
• dribbling after urination;
• a feeling that the bladder has not emptied completely;
• painful urination;
• sexual-function problems associated with the underlying condition.

These symptoms are not specific to benign prostate enlargement. They may also occur with infection, prostatitis, bladder disease, urethral narrowing, diabetes or more serious conditions. A medical examination and diagnosis are therefore required before treatment begins.

How should Prostamol uno be taken?

The recommended dose for adult men is one soft capsule once daily.

• Take the capsule at approximately the same time every day.
• Swallow it whole with sufficient liquid.
• Take the capsule after a meal.
• Do not open, chew or crush the capsule.
• Long-term use is possible, with regular medical follow-up.
• Contact a doctor if symptoms persist or become worse.

If a dose is missed: do not take two capsules to make up for it. Take the next capsule at the usual time.

When should Prostamol uno not be taken?

Do not take the medicine if you are allergic to saw palmetto fruit, Serenoa repens extract or any of the capsule ingredients.

Prostamol uno is not intended for women, children or adolescents under 18 years of age.

Interactions with other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines, herbal products and food supplements you use.

A small number of suspected interactions with warfarin have been reported, including an increase in the INR value. Patients taking warfarin or another medicine affecting blood clotting should have the combination checked before use.

Possible side effects

The following may occur uncommonly, particularly if the capsule is taken on an empty stomach:

• nausea;
• vomiting;
• diarrhoea;
• abdominal pain or discomfort.

Headache, allergic reactions or hypersensitivity reactions may also occur, although their frequency is not known.

According to the official product information, there have been no reports that saw palmetto extract adversely affects sexual function.

If more capsules have been taken than recommended

No cases of overdose have been reported. Contact a doctor or pharmacist if a substantially larger amount has been taken or unusual symptoms occur.

How to store Prostamol uno

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Store below 30°C.
• Do not use after the expiry date.
• Return unused medicine to a pharmacy that collects pharmaceutical waste.

Composition

Each soft capsule contains 320 mg of soft extract of saw palmetto fruit – Serenoa repens (9–11:1). The extraction solvent is 96% ethanol.

The capsule shell contains succinylated gelatin, glycerol, titanium dioxide, black and yellow iron oxides and carmine.
