Which farm animals does a child fit into the Pino Shapes puzzle – Farm?

The Pino Shapes puzzle – Farm (Serbian name Oblici – Farma, item number 4312T.1, EAN 8606009255742) is a wooden inset puzzle from the Serbian brand Pino: a board measuring 30 x 22.5 x 2.2 cm has recesses shaped like farm animals, and every figure has a wooden handle for easy gripping.

According to the retailer eci-pec, the Farm set contains 10 pieces – large wooden figures – and the animals include a horse, a cow, a dog, a hen and a duck. The child's task is to recognise the animal's shape and put the figure back in its place on the farm board.

The Farm inset puzzle is made of wood painted with water-based paints, and the retailer recommends it for children from 12 months. The Farm puzzle is made in China and imported to Serbia by JAMAX M d.o.o. Čačak.

How to play and care

To start, leave only two or three animals on the Farm board and take the rest out; the child holds a figure by its handle and looks for the recess of the same shape.

While the child fits the horse, the cow or the duck, name the animal and imitate its sound – this way the Pino Farm also becomes a game of recognising farm animals.

A dry or slightly damp cloth is enough for cleaning the farm figures; do not soak the wooden parts of the Farm inset puzzle in water.

Who is it for?

According to the retailer, the Pino Shapes puzzle – Farm 4312T.1 is meant for children from 12 months and is a good choice as a first inset puzzle, when a child is just learning to grasp a figure and place it in the right spot.

Important notes

Before each game, check that the handles on the farm figures are firmly attached; a loose or damaged handle is a small part and should be removed.
The youngest children should play with the Farm inset puzzle under adult supervision.

Pharmacist's advice:

With a one-year-old I advise sitting next to the child with the Farm inset puzzle and first taking out and putting back one animal together; after play, check all handles on the farm figures, because at this age small parts are the most important thing to check.
