With vitamin D, more is not automatically better. For longer-term supplementation, a laboratory measurement of 25-OH vitamin D can be useful, particularly when using such a high individual dose.

The manufacturer specifically directs this strength to healthy adults over 75 years of age. For younger adults without a confirmed increased requirement, a lower daily strength may be more appropriate depending on laboratory results and professional advice.
