With vitamin D, more is not automatically better. One capsule already provides 2000 IU, or 50 µg, of vitamin D3. When combining it with multivitamins, omega-3 products or other D3 supplements, check the total daily amount from all sources.

Vitamin D is fat soluble, so taking the capsule with a meal containing some dietary fat is practical. This product is also formulated with sunflower oil inside the softgel capsule.

If vitamin D deficiency is suspected or long-term supplementation is planned, measuring 25-OH vitamin D can help guide intake. The appropriate amount may depend on the laboratory result, age, medical conditions and current medication.

Higher doses should not be added casually in people who already have elevated blood calcium or certain kidney or parathyroid conditions.
