Pharmacist's advice

The 1 kg package is highly concentrated: only 1 g of powder is a complete serving providing 1000 mg of vitamin C. Use the included scoop rather than estimating the amount by eye.

Ascorbic acid can cause stomach discomfort in sensitive individuals, especially when taken on an empty stomach. In that case, taking it with a meal, as recommended by the manufacturer, may be more practical.

When vitamin C is combined with iron, remember that it increases iron absorption. This can be useful during iron supplementation but may be inappropriate in people with haemochromatosis or other iron-overload conditions.

For people with a history of kidney stones, I would not recommend independent long-term use of this high-dose powder, particularly because the manufacturer specifically excludes people with kidney stones or a tendency to develop them.
