What is Coenzyme Q10 – ubiquinone?

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a fat-soluble, vitamin-like compound naturally present in the body. It is found in cells, including mitochondria, where it has a physiological role in cellular energy-production processes.

Coenzyme Q10 occurs in two principal forms: ubiquinone, the oxidized form, and ubiquinol, the reduced form. OstroVit Ubiquinone Q10 contains ubiquinone.

CoQ10 can also be obtained through food and occurs naturally in various animal- and plant-derived foods. A supplement provides a precisely declared additional amount.

Why is it an oil-based formula?

Coenzyme Q10 is fat soluble. OstroVit therefore combines ubiquinone with sunflower oil inside a softgel capsule.
