Nolicin is a drug that contains the active substance norfloxacin, an antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone group, which acts against various bacterial infections. It is used for the treatment of infections of the urinary system, including acute and chronic cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, as well as for the prevention of infections after urological procedures.
Nolicin is usually taken orally as 400 mg film-coated tablets. The recommended dose for adults is 400 mg twice a day, taking the tablet at least 2 hours before or 1 hour after a meal or milk, to ensure optimal absorption of the drug. The duration of therapy depends on the type and severity of the infection, and the doctor will determine the appropriate treatment regimen.
Like all medicines, Nolicin can cause side effects. The most common include headache, dizziness, nausea, stomach pain and diarrhea. Rarely, more serious side effects may occur, such as allergic reactions, liver or kidney problems, prolonged QT interval (electrical activity of the heart), which can lead to serious heart problems.
Nolicin is not recommended for pregnant women, nursing mothers, children and young people who are still growing, as well as for people with hypersensitivity to norfloxacin or other quinolones. Also, it should be used with caution in people with a history of seizures (epilepsy), myasthenia gravis, liver or kidney damage, prolonged QT interval, or electrolyte imbalance in the blood.
The medicine should be stored at a temperature of up to 25°C, in the original packaging, protected from light and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach and sight of children. Unused medicine must not be thrown into the sewer or household waste; ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer need.
