Before NIVEA Cream was a success, a completely new ingredient had to be invented - Eucerit. Eucerite acts as an emulsion and is a combination of oil and water that has a very fine, firm texture. Fortunately, Dr. Isaac Lifshutz developed this emulsion before 1911. Professor Paul Gerson Una, a dermatologist, was impressed by Dr. Lifschutz's expertise in this area and showed the emulsion to Dr. Oskar Troplovic, a chemist and one of the founders of the Beiersdorf company. He immediately recognized that the emulsion with water in oil is the perfect base for a cosmetic cream. All they needed now was a name. And to find it, it was enough for Dr. Troplovic to just look at the cream. When the emulsion was ready, it had a snow-white color. The name NIVEA comes from the Latin word nix, nivis, meaning snow, and the translation of the name NIVEA itself is "snow-white".

Although today there are a large number of skin care products intended for men, 90 years ago men cared for their skin mainly with soap and water.

NIVEA has made a significant contribution to the development of male care. After shaving soap and then shaving cream, in 1980 NIVEA introduced aftershave balm and thus once again launched a new trend in skin care.

The popularity that this balm quickly gained shows that men also wanted care products intended only for them. The next innovation came in 1986 - NIVEA MEN is the first skincare line designed exclusively for men.

Today, the NIVEA MEN line includes a large number of creams, shampoos, hair styling products, showers and body care products, facial care as well as anti-aging skin products.

The brand that in 1911 consisted only of NIVEA Cream, today represents a whole family with more than 500 products. NIVEA has developed a large number of innovative skin care products over the last decades and continues to work on innovations. As part of ecological efforts and care for the environment, the Natural Balance line was created - the first NIVEA line that mainly contains natural ingredients, one of which is of organic origin. In addition, NIVEA Q10plus anti-wrinkle serum with active beads was presented, which has the highest concentration of natural coenzyme Q10 in the entire NIVEA Q10plus anti-wrinkle line. As in the past, so in the present and in the future - NIVEA always sets new standards in skin care.
