Mycosan XL set for the treatment of fungal nail infections

Mycosan XL Fungal Nail Treatment Kit is a medical device intended for the treatment of several fingernails or toenails affected by a mild to moderate fungal nail infection. The XL pack contains 10 mL of serum, making it suitable when several nails require treatment or when a larger quantity is needed for prolonged use.

The serum forms a thin film over the nail and helps inhibit the development of fungi associated with nail discolouration, thickening and separation from the nail bed. The precision brush allows hygienic application over the entire nail and on harder-to-reach areas.

What does the Mycosan XL kit contain?

• 10 mL of Mycosan serum for multiple affected nails;
• a precision brush for targeted and hygienic application;
• 10 single-use nail files for reducing excessive nail thickness;
• a treatment schedule and nail template for monitoring progress.

The XL kit contains the same serum as the standard 5 mL Mycosan kit, but provides twice the quantity for the treatment of several nails.

Ingredients

Ingredients: Aqua, Rye Ferment Filtrate, Pentylene Glycol, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Hydroxyethylcellulose.

The serum is for external use on fingernails and toenails only.

When is Mycosan XL used?

Mycosan XL is intended for mild to moderate fungal nail changes such as:

• white or yellowish areas on the nail surface;
• discolouration starting at the outer edge of the nail;
• gradual thickening or an uneven nail surface;
• crumbling or partial separation of the nail plate;
• several affected nails requiring a larger XL pack.

Not every discoloured or thickened nail is caused by a fungal infection. Injury, psoriasis, eczema and other nail disorders may have a similar appearance. Seek professional advice if the cause is uncertain.

How is Mycosan XL used?

Before treatment, remove nail polish and clean and dry the nail thoroughly.

Active treatment – first four weeks:

• apply a small drop of serum to the entire affected nail;
• apply twice daily, in the morning and evening;
• cover the nail surface, edges and any accessible area under the free nail edge;
• allow the serum to dry for approximately one minute.

After the first four weeks:

• continue applying the serum once daily;
• continue until the affected part has completely grown out;
• monitor the growth of clearer and healthier-looking nail from the base.

Nails grow slowly. A toenail may require approximately six to nine months to grow out completely, so consistent daily treatment is essential.

How are the nail files used?

After one week of treatment, carefully file excessive thickness from the affected part of the nail. Filing should be performed once weekly.

• Use each file only once.
• Do not use a file from an affected nail on a healthy nail.
• Do not file deeply enough to cause pain, bleeding or skin damage.
• Filing helps the serum penetrate the nail plate more effectively.

When may results become visible?

The first visible improvement in the nail surface may be noticed after approximately two weeks of regular use. However, the damaged part cannot become healthy immediately and must gradually be replaced by newly growing nail.

Progress is indicated by clearer nail growth from the base and movement of the affected area towards the free edge.

Who can use Mycosan XL?

• adults;
• children aged four years and over;
• people with diabetes, with professional foot assessment if wounds, reduced sensation or circulation problems are present;
• people with several nails affected by a mild to moderate fungal infection.

Warnings and precautions

• For external use on fingernails and toenails only.
• Do not apply to the eyes, mouth, mucous membranes, open wounds or irritated skin.
• Do not use in cases of known hypersensitivity to any ingredient.
• The kit is intended for personal use and should not be shared.
• Stop treatment if significant irritation, redness or a rash develops.
• During pregnancy or breastfeeding, use only when instructed and supervised by a healthcare professional.
• Keep out of the reach of children.

How can the spread of fungi be reduced?

• Dry the feet and spaces between the toes thoroughly after washing.
• Change socks regularly and choose moisture-absorbing materials.
• Air shoes and allow them to dry completely before wearing them again.
• Do not share towels, scissors, nail clippers or files.
• Wear protective footwear in swimming pools, changing rooms, saunas and shared showers.
• Treat athlete’s foot separately if the skin between the toes is also affected.

Storage

• Do not refrigerate or freeze.
• Keep away from direct sunlight.
• Close the tube securely after every use.
• Use for up to one year after opening, but never beyond the expiry date.
