Which tweezer tip to choose
The shape of the tip determines what the tweezers are best for. If you buy just one pair, slanted tweezers suit most people, and pointed tweezers are handy for fine work.

How to pluck hairs correctly
- Wash and dry the skin first; a warm damp cloth softens the skin slightly
- Stretch the skin with your fingers and grip the hair as close to the root as possible
- Pluck in the direction of hair growth in one firm movement
- Afterwards soothe the skin with a mild alcohol-free toner or gel
- Clean the tweezers after every use with alcohol or a disinfectant and store them in a protective case
Tweezers for splinters and ticks
Pointed tweezers are useful in the home medicine cabinet for removing splinters and thorns. They can also be used to remove ticks: grip the tick as close to the skin as possible and pull it out with steady, gentle pressure, without twisting or squeezing its body.
Pharmacist's adviceTweezers are a personal tool – do not share them and disinfect them before and after use, especially when removing splinters or ingrown hairs. Good stainless steel tweezers have tips that meet perfectly, so they grip the hair without breaking it. Do not dig at an ingrown hair that is infected or painful. If spreading redness, swelling, pus or fever appear around a splinter or after removing a tick, see a doctor. For hair removal over larger areas see waxing and depilation. |
