How do you use Afrodita Hydra depilatory cream safely on the body?

Afrodita Depilation Hydra is a depilatory cream for the body from the Depilation line of the Slovenian manufacturer Kozmetika Afrodita. It comes in a 100 ml tube with a spatula and is intended for quick and effective removal of unwanted hair, for example on the legs, arms and underarms.

Unlike a razor, which cuts the hair at the surface, a depilatory cream chemically softens the hair so that it can be wiped away together with the cream. The manufacturer describes the Hydra version as a moisturising formula with aloe vera, which moisturises, soothes and protects the skin, and recommends it for normal skin.

According to the product description, the skin stays smooth and silky for up to twice as long as after shaving. The cream contains thioglycolic acid, the active depilatory agent, so it must be used strictly according to the instructions and the warnings on the pack.

How to use

According to the manufacturer's instructions as quoted by retailers:

• Before depilation, moisten the skin and hair with water.
• Using the spatula provided, apply the cream directly to the skin, evenly, in a layer 2–3 mm thick.
• Leave it to act for 3 to a maximum of 10 minutes, depending on the structure and thickness of the hair. Do not exceed 10 minutes.
• Then gently remove the cream with the spatula and rinse the skin thoroughly with water.

Who is it for?

The cream is intended for adults with normal skin who want to remove hair from larger areas of the body, such as the legs, arms or underarms, quickly and without a razor.

For the face and bikini area Afrodita offers a separate cream for more delicate areas. People with sensitive or reactive skin should first do a test on a small area of skin.

Important notes

• Contains thioglycolate. Follow the instructions. Keep out of reach of children. These warnings are mandatory under EU cosmetics rules for depilatories containing thioglycolic acid.
• Avoid contact with the eyes. If the cream gets into the eyes, rinse them immediately with plenty of water.
• Before first use, test the cream on a small area of skin and wait for 24 hours – especially if you have sensitive skin or have not used a depilatory cream before.
• Do not apply to irritated, inflamed, sunburnt or broken skin, or to moles and scars. If you feel burning or stinging, remove the cream immediately and rinse with water.
• Read the warnings on the packaging before use – the label always takes precedence over this text.
