Paranit Head Lice and Nit Treatment Spray, 100 ml with comb, is a medical device developed for treating head-lice infestation in adults and children over 12 months of age. Its mineral-oil and dimethicone formula acts through a physical mechanism and contains no conventional insecticides.
The spray is applied evenly to dry hair and scalp and left in place for 10 minutes. It is then washed out with cosmetic shampoo, after which the supplied fine-tooth comb is used to remove lice and nits carefully, one section at a time.

How does Paranit Spray work on lice and nits?
Dimethicone and mineral oil coat the head lice and nits and interfere with their essential physical functions. Unlike neurotoxic insecticides, the product does not target the parasite’s nervous system.
Because the mechanism is physical, head lice cannot develop conventional resistance to the active ingredients. Successful treatment still depends on applying enough spray to cover the whole scalp and hair, respecting the full treatment time and combing thoroughly afterwards.
Particular attention should be paid to the hair roots, the nape of the neck and the area behind the ears. When several family members have confirmed live lice, all affected people should be treated on the same day.
Who is the product intended for?
Adults and children over 12 months of age in whom head lice have been found. It is intended only for head lice and not for pubic or body lice. It should not be used as a preventive treatment when no lice have been detected.
Directions for use and important precautions
- Check the hair: examine dry hair section by section with the supplied fine-tooth comb, particularly behind the ears and at the nape.
- Apply the spray: hold the bottle approximately 10 cm from the hair and spray enough product evenly onto completely dry hair.
- Cover the whole scalp and hair: massage thoroughly from the roots to the ends.
- Leave for 10 minutes: do not cover the hair with a cap, plastic film or towel.
- Wash the hair: before wetting it, apply a sufficient amount of ordinary cosmetic shampoo for oily hair. Massage thoroughly, add water, lather and rinse with warm water. Repeat when necessary.
- Comb out lice and nits: before drying, comb the wet hair carefully in small sections from the roots towards the ends.
- Check again: examine dry hair after seven days and repeat treatment only when live lice are found again.
Important information and warnings
- For external use only.
- Do not use in children under 12 months of age.
- Do not use on a severely irritated, injured or infected scalp.
- Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and nose.
- If the product enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to mineral oil, dimethicone or another ingredient.
- Stop treatment and wash the hair with ordinary shampoo if rash, pronounced redness or irritation develops.
- Do not swallow or deliberately inhale the sprayed product.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women should seek medical or pharmaceutical advice before use.
- Fire hazard: keep treated hair away from fire, cigarettes, naked flames, hairdryers, heaters and hot objects.
- Do not smoke during use or while the product remains in the hair.
- Clean spilled product immediately with detergent and hot water because the floor may become slippery.
- Store in a dry place at 15°C to 25°C and keep out of the reach of children.

The most common reason for treatment failure is not lice resistance but insufficient product or incomplete combing. The spray must cover the whole scalp and hair, including the nape and the area behind the ears. After washing, divide the hair into small sections and comb each section from the roots. Check everyone in the household but treat only people in whom live lice are found. Clean pillowcases, towels, hats and personal items that have been in direct contact with the hair according to their care instructions.

Why is combing still necessary?
