OMRON INFLATION BULB FOR M1 COMPACT WITH CONNECTOR – replacement bulb for manual cuff inflation on a semi-automatic blood pressure monitor

How do you use the Omron inflation bulb for the M1 Compact and when should it be replaced?
The Omron inflation bulb with connector is a replacement part for the Omron M1 Compact, a semi-automatic upper arm blood pressure monitor. On this monitor the cuff is not inflated by a motor but manually – by squeezing a rubber bulb. When you stop pumping, the monitor measures automatically and displays blood pressure and pulse.
The bulb is attached to the air system of the monitor and cuff via its connector. Over time the rubber can wear, crack or lose elasticity, and the connector can be damaged – the monitor then cannot inflate the cuff to the required pressure. Replacing the bulb makes the monitor usable again without buying a new device.
The bulb is a separate item; cuffs for the M1 Compact (22–32 cm and 22–42 cm) are also available separately, so each worn part can be replaced independently of the others.
Key benefits:
- Replacement inflation bulb with connector for the Omron M1 Compact.
- Allows manual inflation of the cuff on a semi-automatic monitor.
- Brings a monitor with a worn or damaged bulb back into use.
- Simple attachment via the connector.
- Can be combined with the matching Omron cuff for the M1 Compact.

How to use
According to Omron instructions for semi-automatic monitors of the M1 family:
- Connect the air tubes of the cuff and the bulb to the monitor's air jacks as described in your monitor's manual.
- Place the cuff on your bare upper arm and switch the monitor on.
- Inflate the cuff quickly by squeezing the bulb until the pressure is 30–40 mmHg above your expected upper (systolic) value; the target pressure should be reached in about five seconds.
- Release the bulb – the measurement starts automatically. If the re-inflation symbol appears on the display, squeeze the bulb again.
- Do not inflate the cuff more than necessary and never above 299 mmHg.
Who is it for?
For users of the Omron M1 Compact whose original bulb is worn, cracked, lost or no longer holds air, and for anyone who wants a spare part to hand.
Important notes
- Do not inflate the cuff when it is not wrapped around the arm.
- Do not bend the air tube excessively, and hold it close to the connector when unplugging it.
- Store the bulb, cuff and monitor in the case, protected from moisture, direct sunlight, extreme temperatures and dust.
- People with severe circulatory or blood disorders should consult a doctor before measuring, as cuff inflation can cause internal bleeding.
Pharmacist's advice:
If the monitor often asks for re-inflation or the pressure in the cuff drops quickly, check the bulb and the connector first: cracked rubber or a loose connection is the most common cause. A bulb that is slow to regain its shape after squeezing has usually lost its elasticity, and it is time to replace it.
For reliable results, measure at the same time of day, after a few minutes of sitting quietly, with your arm supported at heart level. If you know your blood pressure is high, inflate the cuff a little more – about 30–40 mmHg above your usual upper value – so that the monitor does not need to ask for re-inflation.
