How does VAXOL Ear Spray work?

Olive oil helps soften dry and hardened earwax, allowing it to move gradually towards the outer part of the ear canal and be removed naturally. This may reduce the need for ear irrigation or make professional removal of an earwax plug easier.

The oily layer also lubricates and moisturises the skin of the external ear canal. This is particularly useful for people experiencing dryness, tightness, itching or mild irritation without signs of infection.

Ingredients

The VAXOL Ear Spray formula is based on pharmaceutical-grade olive oil. Always check the packaging of the specific product for the full and exact list of ingredients.

Directions for use

Before use, warm the bottle in your hand for a few minutes and shake well. Before first use, press the spray pump three to four times into the air until an even spray appears.

Gently pull the upper part of the outer ear upwards and backwards.
Keep the bottle upright and position the applicator at the entrance to the external ear canal.
Press the spray pump fully once or twice.
Gently massage the tragus, the small cartilage in front of the ear opening.
Repeat in the other ear if required.
The ear does not need to be rinsed after application.

Recommended frequency of use

To prevent earwax accumulation: use once or twice a week.
For a dry ear canal, itching and irritation: use once or twice a week or as advised by a doctor.
Before professional removal of an earwax plug: apply one or two sprays twice daily for four to five days, or as instructed by a doctor or nurse.

The applicator can be removed after use and rinsed with warm water. Once dry, place it back on the bottle. Each pack should be used by one person only.

Important precautions

The product is intended exclusively for use in the external ear canal.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to olive oil or any other ingredient.
People with a perforated eardrum or ear pain should use the product only after consulting a doctor.
For children under one year of age, the product should be used only on medical advice.
Do not use as a substitute for medical assessment in cases of sudden hearing loss, severe pain, dizziness, bleeding or ear discharge.
Discontinue use and consult a doctor if an allergic reaction is suspected.
Do not spray near the eyes, nose, mouth or an open flame.
Keep out of the reach of children.

Storage and pack size

Store upright at a temperature between 15°C and 25°C. According to the current manufacturer’s instructions, the product may be used for up to 12 months after first opening, but not beyond the expiry date printed on the packaging.

The pack contains a 10 ml spray bottle, providing approximately 180 individual doses.

Pharmacist’s advice

Earwax has a natural protective function and does not need to be completely removed from a healthy ear canal. Earwax-softening products are used when excessive accumulation causes blockage or makes examination of the ear more difficult.

Do not insert cotton buds, fingers, hairpins or other objects into the ear canal. They usually push earwax deeper instead of removing it and may worsen the blockage or damage the sensitive skin of the ear.

If the blocked-ear sensation and reduced hearing do not improve after several days of correct use, or if pain, discharge, bleeding, dizziness or sudden hearing loss occurs, discontinue self-treatment and arrange a medical examination.
