JEAN PAUL
Jean Paul Gaultier is a French fashion designer known for his eccentric, provocative and original aesthetic. Born in 1952, he entered the fashion world at a very young age, first working for Pierre Cardin and then launching his own brand in 1976. Although he is best known for fashion collections that often break the rules of conventional design, Gaultier has also gained immense popularity in the world of perfume.
The Jean Paul Gaultier brand entered the perfume industry in 1993 and since then has been known for its recognizable, sculptural bottles and intense, characteristic scents. The first perfume for women, "Classique", was launched in 1993 and comes in a bottle shaped like a woman's torso in a corset. A year later, in 1995, a male counterpart appeared - "Le Male", which comes in a bottle in the shape of a man's torso dressed in a sailor's shirt.
The Jean Paul Gaultier brand today operates under the auspices of the Puig company, which licenses and manufactures his perfumes. Although Gaultier retired from active designing in the fashion industry in 2020, his name and aesthetic still live on strongly through perfume collections that are regularly renewed and expanded.
