Consult a doctor before use in cases of thyroid disease, autoimmune disease, liver disease, diabetes, low or high blood pressure, prostate cancer, chronic illness or planned surgery.

Ashwagandha may interact with sedatives and sleeping medicines, thyroid medication, blood-pressure and diabetes medicines and immunosuppressants. Do not stop or change prescribed medication without medical approval.

Possible adverse effects include drowsiness, nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea or vomiting. Do not drive or operate machinery if the product causes drowsiness or dizziness.

Rare cases of liver injury have been reported. Stop use and seek medical advice immediately if yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools, severe itching, pronounced nausea, unusual fatigue or pain below the right ribs occurs.

Continuous use for longer than three months is not recommended without professional advice because there is insufficient information about long-term safety.

If you have not previously used ashwagandha or have a sensitive stomach, begin with one capsule with a meal for the first few days. Increase to the recommended two capsules daily only if it is well tolerated.

Do not use several ashwagandha products at the same time. Check products intended for stress, sleep, energy and libido because they may contain the same ingredient or other substances with sedative effects.

If tension, insomnia, marked fatigue or mood changes persist for weeks, interfere with daily functioning or become worse, a supplement should not delay consultation with a doctor or another appropriate healthcare professional.
