Zan is a medicine that contains the active substance zaleplon and is used to treat insomnia, especially when it is difficult to fall asleep. It belongs to a group of non-benzodiazepine hypnotics, also known as "Z-drugs", which are shorter-acting and have less potential for addiction compared to traditional sedatives.
Dosage:
Adults: The recommended dose is 10 mg, taken immediately before going to sleep.
Elderly patients (over 65 years): The recommended dose is 5 mg per day.
Patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment: The recommended dose is 5 mg per day.
Patients with impaired renal function: No dose reduction of Zana is required in patients with mild to moderate impaired renal function. In patients with severely impaired kidney function, the doctor will assess the justification for the use of Zan.
Zan therapy should be as short as possible and should not last longer than 2 weeks.
Instructions for use
Take the medicine Zan just before going to sleep, or after you have already gone to bed and noticed that you cannot fall asleep. Do not take another dose on the same night.
Zan can cause drowsiness, loss of concentration and memory, or muscle weakness. These signs may worsen if you sleep less than 7-8 hours after taking the medicine. Do not drive a motor vehicle or operate machinery if the drug Zan affects you in this way.
The drug Zan contains lactose as an auxiliary substance. In case of intolerance to certain sugars, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Overdose
If you or someone else accidentally took a large dose of Zan, severe drowsiness can occur very quickly, and taking high doses can most likely lead to a coma. Immediately inform your doctor or go to the nearest health facility. Take the remaining amount of medicine or this instruction with you so that the medical staff knows exactly what medicine you have taken.
Zan is an effective medicine for the treatment of insomnia, but it is important to follow the doctor's instructions and not to exceed the recommended dose. Never change the dose or stop the treatment without consulting a specialist.
