OstroVit Pharma Thyroid Aid – 90 capsules is a comprehensive vegan dietary supplement combining L-tyrosine, iodine from kelp extract, selenium, zinc, magnesium, ashwagandha, inulin and vitamins B6 and B12.

One recommended daily serving of 3 capsules provides 500 mg L-tyrosine, 150 µg iodine, 100 µg selenium, 15 mg zinc and 135 mg standardized ashwagandha root extract, together with magnesium, inulin and active forms of vitamins B6 and B12.

Iodine contributes to normal thyroid hormone production and normal thyroid function, while selenium also contributes to normal thyroid function. The formula is intended for adults as nutritional supplementation and is not a medicine or a substitute for treatment of thyroid disease.

Why does the formula contain iodine and selenium?

Iodine is an essential micronutrient that contributes to normal thyroid hormone production and normal thyroid function. One daily serving provides 150 µg of iodine from kelp extract.

Selenium contributes to normal thyroid function and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. OstroVit uses L-selenomethionine and provides 100 µg of selenium per daily serving.

L-tyrosine and the other ingredients

L-tyrosine is an amino acid that the body can produce from phenylalanine. The formula provides 500 mg of L-tyrosine per daily serving.

Ashwagandha – Withania somnifera is included as 135 mg of root extract. The extract is standardized to 7.2% withanolides, 1% alkaloids and 0.25% withaferin A.

Magnesium contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, while vitamins B6 and B12 contribute to normal energy metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Ingredients

L-tyrosine, magnesium carbonate, ashwagandha root extract (Withania somnifera) standardized to 7.2% withanolides, 1% alkaloids and 0.25% withaferin A, inulin, vegetable capsule shell – hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), zinc picolinate, L-selenomethionine, Japanese kelp extract standardized to 1% iodine, vitamin B6 as pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (P-5-P) and vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin.

Allergen information: manufactured in a facility using ingredients derived from milk including lactose, soybeans, peanuts, other nuts, sesame, cereals containing gluten, eggs, crustaceans and fish.

Suggested use

Adults take 3 capsules once daily, preferably with a meal.

With products intended for nutritional thyroid support, check the total daily intake of iodine and selenium from every supplement you already use. Thyroid Aid itself provides 150 µg of iodine and 100 µg of selenium per daily serving.

If you already take thyroid medication or have Hashimoto's disease, Graves' disease, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules or goitre, this is not a supplement that should automatically be added to treatment. The combination of iodine and ashwagandha deserves particular consideration.

Unexplained weight change, pronounced fatigue, unusually fast or slow heart rate, tremor, intolerance to heat or cold, hair loss or neck swelling warrant thyroid assessment rather than self-treatment with supplements.
